An inspirational memoir detailing a woman's journey from childhood trauma and adoption to her career as an educator, coach, and fiercely dedicated advocate for underprivileged youth.

Becca Moore might hold the title of the head coach’s wife in her town in Ohio, but behind that, she carries a lifetime of experiences and strength that shape how she moves through her days. In "Angel on a Bridge," Moore walks the reader through the pivotal moments from childhood to adulthood that led her to become the advocate she is today. The memoir explores the challenges posed by identity and the courage one must find to persevere.

Moore sets the scene as she is about to give a speech at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon Club. The magnitude of the moment leads the narrative to her beginning, where she walks us through formative times that ultimately led her to this one. She takes us back to her early childhood and the events that transpired with her abusive father. From there, she steadily unravels her story through key moments that shaped her.

"Angel on a Bridge" is a story about identity. It is something Moore struggles to find in many instances of her growing up. She faces trials and tribulations that cause her to take a step back and reassess her next steps, from an accident that caused brain trauma as a kid to being admitted to a mental health clinic during high school. She narrates these experiences through a reflective lens showing how she has learned from these moments that shaped her into who she is today.

After some back and forth at the start of her career—from majoring in journalism to dabbling in teaching and spending time in Thailand—she settles into a teaching job in Dayton, Ohio. Here, she meets fellow teacher and future husband, Nate Moore. They have a whirlwind romance where they marry within the year, and not much later her life as a head coach’s wife begins.

From building a family to moving around depending on her husband’s coaching opportunities, Becca Moore was always adapting and figuring it out for her family. She wants her children to grow up happy, healthy, and successful, so she understands the sacrifice that entails. Through her teaching positions, one thing she always stood by was advocating for the students. The politics that go on behind the scenes are no match for her determination to ensure the children’s success.

She perseveres and keeps her word to herself, always standing beside those children that need her most. The more Coach Moore’s career advances and becomes public, the more risk it entails, but that does not stop Moore. She faces the custody trial for Thayer with strength ensuring a successful career in football and a college degree, gives Terrence a safe space to call home and the stability he needs to thrive, and provides TK with the resources to save his future.

"Angel on a Bridge" is a successful memoir that is both captivating and inspiring. Becca Moore accomplishes this with ease taking the reader through chapters of her life that shaped her and how she used those moments as fuel to reach her goals. Readers that enjoy memoirs, inspirational anecdotes, and sports are sure to enjoy this read centering on staying true to one’s identity and advocating for others.
