Storytellers, authors, agents and publishing experts from around the globe will gather in the heart of Ireland’s historic literary capital this August as the International Dublin Writers’ Festival (IDWF) returns for its 12th annual show.
Running from Friday evening, August 14 through Sunday, August 16, 2026, the three-day event will transition to a new venue, taking place within the Arts Block at the historic Trinity College Dublin. For over a decade, the festival has served as a critical launchpad and networking hub for both emerging and established voices. This year, organizers are steering the conversation toward the horizon with a highly anticipated central theme: "The Future of Story."
As rapid technological shifts, shifting reader habits, and the rise of artificial intelligence redefine the creative landscape, the 2026 festival aims to tackle these disruption points head-on. Attendees will explore how modern narratives are being shaped, discovered, and consumed. Through a curated lineup of speeches, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops, industry leaders will debate the evolving roles of authorship, publishing ethics, and creative integrity in a tech-driven era.
"Dublin has long been recognized as a UNESCO City of Literature, deeply rooted in the traditions of legendary wordsmiths," the event organizers noted. "This festival honors that vast history while actively leaning into the massive, exciting changes emerging for global creators today."
True to its reputation for professional development, the IDWF 2026 will feature an extensive roster of acclaimed international authors, literary agents, independent publishers, and publishing specialists. Beyond deep-dives into the mechanics of the craft, a core focal point of the weekend remains structural career advancement.
Printed Word Reviews' Publisher Ted Olczak will be in attendance and speaking on the AI panel on Saturday, August 15th. Other experts and speakers include Ciara Finan, John DeDakis, Cassie Young, Mark Gottlieb, Gerald Kilby, Peter Z. Orton, Dr. Sarah Sinnamon, Tiago Novaes, Jack Hadley, Louise Phillips, Taryn de Vere, David Ebenbach, Barry Winkless, Katherine Mezzacappa, Margaret Skea, Sean Hillen, PeterDunne, Cónal Creedon, and Laurence O'Bryan.
A definitive highlight of the program is the return of the "Pitch Challenge." This live segment allows brave, volunteering writers to present their book hooks directly to a panel of top-tier literary agents and industry gatekeepers, receiving instantaneous, expert feedback in front of a live audience.
Registration is currently open, with early-bird pricing tiers available for both domestic and international attendees. For scheduling, speaker announcements, and ticketing options, visit the official website at internationaldublinwritersfestival.com.
