Independent Publishers Group (IPG) is expanding its sales and distribution roster this fall, adding five publishers across the literary, game design, trade, and religious publishing sectors.
The new additions join IPG’s existing network as the Chicago-based organization continues its growth in print and digital book trade distribution. Founded in 1971 as the first entity created specifically to market independent press titles, IPG operates as a subsidiary of Chicago Review Press, Inc.
The incoming publishers represent a diverse mix of genres and specialties:
Goose Lane Editions specializes in the publication of original works of fiction and poetry; thought-provoking nonfiction on such topics as history, biography, politics and current affairs, travel, nature and the environment; and beautifully designed and informative art books on the work of historical and contemporary artists, with a particular emphasis on Canadian art. Established in 1954 as Fiddlehead Poetry Books, the press has developed into one of Canada’s prominent showcases for home-grown literary talent. Its catalog includes original fiction, poetry, art books, and nonfiction spanning history, politics, and the environment.
Storyteller’s Forge An indie role-playing game design studio, the creator-focused imprint crafts full campaigns, storylines, and adaptable world-building materials designed for tabletop game masters and narrative storytellers. They believe all storytellers should be empowered, from expert wordsmiths to a fresh game master taking the leap the first time. The tales from their studio are immersive, epic, and bind groups together.

Doran Press is the trade imprint of the Freiling Agency, which publishes 15 to 20 business, leadership, self-help, and select fiction titles annually. The imprint takes its name from George H. Doran, who founded his New York house in 1908 and built it into one of America's great publishers of bestsellers, including Virginia Woolf, Arthur Conan Doyle, Sinclair Lewis, and H.G. Wells. Doran Press carries that name forward with a short, deliberate list, choosing every title for its author's reach and its potential in the trade.
